My research focuses on investigating vegetation dynamics in response to climate change across various timescales, integrating past, present, and future human-environment interactions. My expertise lies in palaeoecology, palaeoclimatology, and vegetation modeling, with a particular emphasis on the tropical Himalayan and Ganga Plain regions. By analyzing palaeoecological records of vegetation biomes, field datasets, and ecological niche models, I aim to comprehend and predict the effects of global warming on the biosphere. A cornerstone of my research is the recognition that deciphering past global climate fluctuations and their terrestrial impacts to accurately interpret and forecasting contemporary and future ecological transformations. My current research involves quantifying pollen-based reconstructions of past land cover for various time periods, enhancing vegetation descriptions for climate models. This multidisciplinary approach, combining past ecological data with present observations and future projections, contributes valuable insights to the fields of ecology, climatology, and environmental science, ultimately supporting more accurate predictions and informed decision-making in the face of global climate change.
